Omaha Bee Club Teaching Teachers To Teach Kids About Bees

posted Jun 15, 2012, 7:34 AM by T Sandoval
On Thursday, June 14th, Bob Cook and Tony Sandoval from the Omaha Bee Club went to speak to a group of continuing education students to teach them about how to teach children about bees.

The teachers in attendance were from a variety of school districts and taught students from pre-school to 6th grade.

We gave them a copy of the booklet available from Haagen-Daz  and spent about an hour and a half talking to the teachers and answering questions.

Not only were they very receptive and interested in the materials, they were also interested in being able to arrange for the Omaha Bee Club to do presentations at their schools in the future.

While I did most of the formal presentation, Bob Cook was able to give the teachers a new beekeepers perspective of having bees in an urban setting, dealing with neighbors and other issues and other issues relating to beginning to work with bees.

Bob was able to get a picture with me talking, but we need to get some shots of him next time too.
